Prepare for the DHLOSCE

The Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) is the governing body for the Dental Hygiene Licensure Objective Structured Clinical Examination. The JCNDE works collaboratively with the ADA Department of Testing Services (DTS) to administer National Board Dental Examinations.

Below you will find helpful tools and resources that can assist you in preparing for your upcoming examination. For complete details on the examination, refer to the DHLOSCE Candidate Guide. Frequently asked questions are covered on the DHLOSCE home page.

The DHLOSCE includes questions that require the use of lifelike, three-dimensional (3D) models. These models can be rotated, moved, and zoomed in or out, and some include animation sequences that display clinical procedures candidates must evaluate. 

All 3D models in this preview function the same way they will at the testing center.  

3D Practice Resources 

Candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with 3D model interactions before exam day. The links below allow you to practice manipulating 3D models and viewing animation sequences. A short tutorial video is also provided.

3D Technical Requirements 

Please note: these sample models are not compatible with mobile devices. 

For best performance, access models using: 

• Windows 10 or macOS 10.15 Catalina or newer
• Google Chrome, version 56 or newer 

The DHLOSCE is administered in testing windows, with candidates permitted one administration per window. The JCNDE would be happy to coordinate with specific dental hygiene education programs if the program has candidates who would like to test, but the dates below do not work.

*“Retake only” windows are available only to candidates who have attempted the DHLOSCE previously and failed.
